Fællesskab, natur og læring ved Lillebælt

De Blå Brobyggere er et lokalt forankret initiativ i Middelfart, der samler foreninger, borgere og besøgende omkring havet og livet under, ved og på Lillebælt. Med etableringen af en ny aktivitets- og formidlingsbro ved det maritime center i Middelfart skaber vi et åbent og inkluderende mødested, hvor fællesskab, viden og aktivt udeliv går hånd i hånd.

Aktivitetsbroen bliver et samlingspunkt for “blå fællesskaber” – dykning, sejlads, kajak, naturformidling og bæredygtig fødevareproduktion – og et sted, hvor alle kan komme tættere på havet og forstå dets betydning for vores hverdag og fremtid.

Om De Blå Brobyggere

Foreningen De Blå Brobyggere er stiftet af Bælthaven og Dykkerklubben Marsvinet Lillebælt med et fælles ønske om at skabe bedre rammer for aktiviteter og formidling ved Lillebælt. Initiativet bygger på samarbejde mellem lokale foreninger, Naturpark Lillebælt og Middelfart Kommune og har som mål at forbinde mennesker, viden og natur.

Vi arbejder for at:

• styrke fællesskaber omkring havet
• skabe let og tryg adgang til Lillebælt
• formidle viden om havmiljø, biodiversitet og bæredygtig udnyttelse af marine ressourcer

Aktivitetsbroen ved Lillebælt

Aktivitetsbroen opføres som en integreret del af det maritime center ved Lillebælt og bliver et fysisk og socialt omdrejningspunkt for både organiserede aktiviteter og uformelle ophold.

Broen vil blandt andet blive brugt til:

• dykkeraktiviteter, uddannelse og formidling af livet under overfladen
• anlægsplads for både, kajakker og traditionelle træskibe
• natur- og miljøformidling for børn, unge og voksne
• rekreative ophold for borgere, vandrere og besøgende på Lillebæltstien

Sammen med Smakkelaugets ganganlæg skaber broen et samlet og smukt kystnært anlæg, der inviterer til ophold, læring og fællesskab.

Fællesskab, læring og formidling

Aktivitetsbroen er rammen om en bred vifte af aktiviteter for “børn i alle aldre”. Her mødes foreninger, skoler, institutioner og offentligheden i et levende læringsmiljø, hvor teori og praksis kobles tæt.

Naturvejledere fra Naturpark Lillebælt vil bruge broen og det maritime center til undervisning og formidling, og foreningerne bag De Blå Brobyggere bidrager med viden, erfaring og engagement. Gennem arrangementer, events og daglig aktivitet styrkes forståelsen for Lillebælts unikke natur og betydningen af at passe på den.

Bæredygtighed og blå omstilling

Bæredygtighed er et centralt omdrejningspunkt for De Blå Brobyggere. Broen er bygget til lang levetid med robuste materialer, der er velegnede til det maritime miljø, og med fokus på minimal vedligeholdelse.

Bælthaven bruger broen som platform for dyrkning af muslinger, som bidrager til:

• reduktion af næringsstoffer i havmiljøet
• CO₂-binding og cirkulær bioøkonomi
• formidling af bæredygtig fødevareproduktion

Muslingeproduktionen bruges aktivt i formidlingen og viser i praksis, hvordan lokale, naturbaserede løsninger kan bidrage til en grønnere fremtid.

Samarbejder og lokale partnerskaber

De Blå Brobyggere er et fællesskabsprojekt. Ud over de stiftende foreninger indgår en lang række aktører i brugen og udviklingen af aktivitetsbroen, herunder:

• Naturpark Lillebælt og Naturpark Lillebælts Venner
• Middelfart Kommune
• Kajakklubben Strømmen
• Roklubber, sejl- og smakkelaug
• Foreninger, institutioner og interessefællesskaber langs Lillebælt

Foreningen er åben for nye samarbejder og arbejder løbende for at inddrage flere foreninger, skoler og lokale initiativer.

Fremtid og perspektiv

Med aktivitetsbroen ønsker De Blå Brobyggere at skabe et varigt og levende samlingspunkt ved Lillebælt. Et sted, hvor fællesskab, natur og læring mødes – og hvor nye generationer får lyst til at engagere sig i havet og det liv, det rummer.

Projektet er forankret lokalt, men rummer erfaringer og formidlingsformer, der kan inspirere andre kystnære fællesskaber i Danmark.

 

 

The Blue Bridge Builders

Community, Nature and Learning at the Little Belt

The Blue Bridge Builders is a locally rooted initiative in Middelfart that brings together associations, citizens and visitors around the sea and the life below, along and on the Little Belt. Through the establishment of a new activity and interpretation pier at the Maritime Centre in Middelfart, we create an open and inclusive meeting place where community, knowledge and active outdoor life come together.

The activity pier serves as a focal point for “blue communities” – diving, sailing, kayaking, nature interpretation and sustainable marine food production – and as a place where everyone can experience the sea up close and gain a deeper understanding of its importance to our lives and our future.

About The Blue Bridge Builders

The Blue Bridge Builders association was founded by Bælthaven and the Marsvinet Lillebælt Diving Club, driven by a shared ambition to improve facilities for activities and learning at the Little Belt. The initiative is based on collaboration between local associations, the Nature Park Little Belt and Middelfart Municipality, with the purpose of connecting people, knowledge and nature.

We work to:

• strengthen communities centred on the sea
• provide safe and accessible access to the Little Belt
• communicate knowledge about the marine environment, biodiversity and sustainable use of marine resources

The Activity Pier at the Little Belt

The activity pier is constructed as an integrated part of the Maritime Centre at the Little Belt and functions as both a physical and social hub for organised activities as well as informal visits.

The pier is used for:

• diving activities, training and interpretation of life below the surface
• mooring for boats, kayaks and traditional wooden vessels
• nature and environmental education for children, young people and adults
• recreation for citizens, hikers and visitors along the Little Belt Trail

Together with the Smakkelaug’s walkway, the pier forms a coherent and inviting coastal facility that encourages learning, activity and shared experiences.

Community, Learning and Interpretation

The activity pier provides the setting for a wide range of activities for “children of all ages”. Associations, schools, institutions and the general public meet here in a vibrant learning environment where theory and practice are closely connected.

Nature guides from the Nature Park Little Belt use the pier and the Maritime Centre for education and outreach, while the associations behind The Blue Bridge Builders contribute expertise, experience and commitment. Through events, activities and everyday use, we strengthen awareness of the Little Belt’s unique marine environment and the importance of protecting it.

Sustainability and the Blue Transition

Sustainability is a core principle of The Blue Bridge Builders. The pier is designed for long-term durability using robust materials suited to the marine environment, ensuring low maintenance and a long lifespan.

Bælthaven uses the pier as a platform for mussel farming, which contributes to:

• reduction of excess nutrients in the marine environment
• carbon capture and circular bioeconomy
• hands-on communication of sustainable food production

The mussel cultivation is actively integrated into learning and outreach activities, demonstrating how local, nature-based solutions can support a greener and more sustainable future.

Partnerships and Local Collaboration

The Blue Bridge Builders is a community-driven project. In addition to the founding associations, a wide range of partners are involved in the use and development of the activity pier, including:

• Nature Park Little Belt and Friends of Nature Park Little Belt
• Middelfart Municipality
• Kayak Club Strømmen
• Rowing clubs, sailing and traditional boat associations
• Local organisations, institutions and interest groups along the Little Belt

The association is open to new partnerships and continuously works to involve additional organisations, schools and local initiatives.

Future Perspective

With the activity pier, The Blue Bridge Builders aim to create a lasting and vibrant meeting place at the Little Belt – a place where community, nature and learning meet, and where new generations are inspired to engage with the sea and the life it sustains.

The project is locally anchored, yet it offers experiences and approaches to learning and engagement that can inspire other coastal communities in Denmark and beyond.
